Building Minds and Communities Through Chess: AVRF’s First CDO Chess Grandmaster Quest Tournament
In March 2025, the Amada & Vicente Ravanera Foundation proudly hosted a one-day chess tournament at City Mall Iponan, bringing together over 200 young minds and adult players across Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro (CDO). With participants from elementary, high school, and the broader community, the tournament aimed to foster critical thinking, mental wellness, and community spirit through the timeless game of chess.
In partnership with the Department of Education Region X, AVRF also provided free lunch for students and ensured a well-organized, inclusive experience. The event featured both rapid and blitz formats, with generous prizes, trophies, and medals recognizing excellence and sportsmanship.
By championing activities like this, AVRF reinforces its commitment to nurturing a culture of learning, creativity, and connection—one thoughtful move at a time.
